Just because Peterborough United will haveno influence on the World Cup does not mean that we cant get excited for the tournament, to be perfectlyhonest aboutit I am like a 9 year old boy waiting for Christmas in the build-up to starting day on Friday. This tournament only comes about every 4 years so here is our preview at of the World Cup.Group AFranceStrengths: The quality of George Brett Jersey the squad is excellent. There are top quality players in every position, as cover as well as the starting XI. La sana Diarra and Jeremy Toulalan provide creativity in the centre of midfield with Franck Ribery and FlorentMalouda giving the French pace out wide. Creating chances for Sydney Govou and Nicolas Anelka, Raymond Domenechs favoured strike-force, should not be a problem.Weakne ses: The manager. It is easy to say but Domenechs mad selection policy involving star-signs harms the Frenchs chances. They havent played anywhere near to the standard they should of done in the build up to the World Cup the French finished second to Serbia in their qualifying group and things havent picked up recently; theirlatest 1-0 defeat to China further confirms that the French may be one of the flops of the tournament. Oh and there is the fact that they shouldnt really bein South Africaafter Thierry Henry thought he was playing Basketball against the Republic of Ireland.Key Player: It is hard to look beyond Frank Ribery. One of the best wingers in the World he has the potential to scare even the best defensive sides at the World Cup. Whether he will be given such a free-role as he is allowed at club side Bayern Munich will be up for debate and, after excelling in the Bundesliga, this may limit his potential.UruguayStrengths: The strike Melky Cabrera Jersey -force. In Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan Uruguay po ses one of the most deadly attacking lines in the competition. Suarez can drop deep to create chances, he is equally adept on the left wing, with Forlan generally playing in a poachers position but he excels in it and his goal-scoringrecord at Atletico Madrid has been second to none. Diego Lugano is a top cla s centre back and Nicolas Lodeiro is being tipped to shine.Weakne ses: As good as they are going forward the defence is poor in places. As previously stated Lugano is a good player but is let down by those around him, especially both full-backs, Martin Caceres and Jorge Fucile, although good going forward, are suspect defensively.Key Player: Luis Suarez. The Ajax hitman scored a whopping 48 goals this season in 49 appearances and will hope to continue this form into his national side where his record isnt as impre sive 10 goals in 30 appearances at the age of 23 though he still has plenty of time to develop and has reallymade his name asa world-cla s player this season. He will play a key role if Uruguay are to Paulo Orlando Jersey qualify.MexicoStrengths: The youthful exuberance going forward matched with the experienced defensive line are a good formula for the Mexicans. Manchester Uniteds new signing Javier Hernandez, 21, is supported by Giovanni Dos Santos, 21, and Andres Guardado, 23, in the attacking roles. Gerardo Torrado and Israel Castro both allow the three to attack freely by sitting in the midfield and providing protection for the back four.Weakne ses: The lack of a real star. Rafael Marquez has aged recently and is not so influential to the Mexico squad compared to what he used to be. Hernandez, Dos Santos and Guardado lack experience at the top level and are likely to be better in 2014once they have reached their peak.Key Player: Javier Hernandez. Despite being young the striker has a lot to prove after his transfer to Manchester United. His scoring Whit Merrifield Jersey record is good at international level to date 7 goals in 12 games and he will be looking to improve on this. At 150-1 to be World Cup top goalscorer he could be an outside bet if Mexico do well in the tournament. As a side Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa could be one of the stars of the tournament.South AfricaStrengths: They are playing the tournament at home. They will be used to the surroundings and will have home support cheered on by the vuvuzelas in the crowd. The talent Hunter Dozier Jersey of Steven Pienaar is also a threat. They are also on a twelve game unbeaten streak and head into the competition on form.Weakne ses: The strike-force is poor. Benni McCarthy was sent home for being too fat, not that it stopped Ronaldo (the Brazilian one that is), Bernard Parker and Katlego Mphela, the South African strike-force with McCarthys absence are not of the quality needed to threaten too many defences.Key Player: Stephen Pienaar. The Everton midfielder has proved his cla s over the last few seasons in the Premier League. Very talented on the ball he will have to be on top form if the hosts are to qualify out of a tough group.
